SUBANG JAYA: The government is expected to generate about RM17 billion sales from the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC) 2019 by end of this year, said Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

This would be derived from a total of 25,000 homes to be sold by the year-end, Zuraida added.

“As of (yesterday), about 19,700 units were sold. The additional 5,300 units are expected to be sold until year-end,” she told the New Straits Times after attending the handover documents ceremony between Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA) and 17 developers here today.

She said the sales project could be achieved based on the current sales achievement of HOC 2019 announced by Real Estate And Housing Developers’ Association of Malaysia (Rehda).

Rehda announced on Thursday that the HOC 2019 had generated RM14.65 billion in sales from 19,784 units of properties sold as at September 13 this year.

Meanwhile, Zuraida said the ministry would resolve issues involving over 500 buyers of PR1MA homes who had filed complaints of not getting up to 30 per cent discount on their previous purchases before the HOC 2019.

Under HOC 2019, PR1MA had offered discounts of up to 30 per cent for more than 42,000 residential units from January to June 2019.

“I will have a meeting with them (buyers) for an engagement process to discuss by second week of October.

“Based on the rules of sales and purchase, they (buyers) cannot get back the discounts. But, we will be nice and engage with them.

“We want to know their expectations from the discussion and we will see how best we can solve it,” she added.

Organised by the ministry in partnership with the Rehda, HOC 2019 was first initiated by the Ministry of Finance as part of the government’s commitment under the National Housing Agenda.
