KENGO KUMA

Kengo Kuma's architecture is a play on light and shadow, organi and synthetic materials, he geopgraphy of the site and imagination. One of the most respected architects in the world today, Kengo Kuma was born in 1954 in Kanagawa and graduated from University of Tokyo in 1979. He also studied in Columbia University in New York and the Asian Cultural Council.

His residential and public work has won him many international awards, including the coveted Architectural Institute of Japan Award in 1997. Some of his most memorable buildings include Suntory's Tokyo office building, the headquarters of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Group Japan, Beijing's Great (Bamboo) Wall House and The Plastic House in Tokyo.

Mr Kuma is also recognised as an authority on contemporary Japanese architectural theory He has authored five books, including the best selling Shin Kenchiku Nyumon (New Introduction to Architecture; 1994). Keny Heights marks Mr Kuma's debut in Malaysia, and showcases his nuanced interpretation of cluster living in the tropics.
